To prepare for the workforce, students need to prepare themselves, both academically and relationally. In terms of academics, students can start with research and internships in competent places.
This was stated by the Rector of PGRI Semarang University, Dr. Sri Suciati, M.Hum, when releasing four students who were selected to participate in an internship at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), on 25 August 2023.
“Through internships, students will directly practice research and research work,” she added. According to Suci, it is through internships that students are brought closer to relationships and an overview of the workforce.
The four PGRI Semarang University students selected for the internship at BRIN are Mohamad Thoyful Gufron from Mechanical Engineering, Azriel Dafa Muhammad from Food Technology, Sulistia from Physics Education, and Farah Zahrina Jasmine Afra from Food Technology.
They will take part in a six-month internship in two different places, namely Puspibtek Serpong and KST Ir. Soekarno, LIPPI.
Sulistia said she hoped to gain experience and mastery of scientific writing from the internship. “I want to do research whose output can be published in the Sinta 3 journal,” she said.
In the meantime, Gufron revealed that the reason he joined the internship was to get a job network. “I want to find a wide range of networks, so that after graduation I can get a job right away,” he said.
A total of 638 students from all over Indonesia participated in the internship project at BRIN. Quoted from its website, BRIN provides mentoring opportunities for students to gain skills that can be useful after graduation.
