Universitas PGRI Semarang (UPGRIS) gave awards and appreciation to a number of outstanding students at the 2022 National Student Sports Week (Pomnas) and the 2022 Student Amateur Boxing National Championship, Chancellor’s Cup, Jakarta State University (UNJ).
The award was given directly by the Rector of UPGRIS Dr. Sri Suciati MHum accompanied by Deputy Chancellor III, Dr. Sapto Budoyo SH MH, as well as the Head of Study Program and Secretary of Study Program PJKR UPGRIS in the rector’s room, Wednesday, December 7, 2002.
The Rector expressed his gratitude to the UPGRIS students who had given year-end gifts by giving lots of medals.
“Your struggle and hard work have resulted in extraordinary achievements and make UPGRIS proud. I congratulate and thank you for bringing the good name of UPGRIS to the national level throughout Indonesia. Hopefully, this achievement makes you more confident with extraordinary potential,” Suci said.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector II said that the achievements of UPGRIS students must continue to increase every year. From national to international level.
”Since the beginning of entering college, we have recorded the interests and talents of the students. When there are opportunities for competitions and academic or non-academic activities, it is easier for campuses to select students to represent them. We will continue to provide facilities and infrastructure needed by students for the training or selection process,” Sapto said.
“It is hoped that the awarding and training for these athletes will attract UPGRIS students who have talent and interest in sports. Particularly creating superior athletes who in the future can contribute to a higher level up to the international level,” he said.
These outstanding students include Arimbi Okta Saputri (bronze medalist for futsal), Yollanda Nafila Fahlu Reza (gold medalist for triple women in the petanque branch), and Tasya Adelia Ayunda Dewi (silver medalist for takraw).
UPGRIS students represent the Central Java contingent in Padang City, West Sumatra, on November 17-26 2022. This event competed in 14 sports, and was attended by 2,985 athletes from 408 universities throughout Indonesia.
Wahyu Satrio Bimo, a PJKR UPGRIS student who is also a boxing athlete, recently won a gold medal in an amateur boxing championship held by UNJ. Next month Bimo will take part in a boxing match in Thailand.
