Christmas Celebration at UPGRIS, Romo Budi Sings ‘Tombo Ati’

The extended family of UPGRIS held a Christmas 2022 celebration at the main campus of UPGRIS on Jl Sidodadi Semarang, Friday, January 6, 2023.

Christmas is celebrated to honor the Christian faculty, staff, and students who are members of the university’s extended family.

At Christmas with the topic, ”So they returned to their country by another way” (Matthew 2:12), the Christmas message was presented by Father Aloysius Budi Purnomo.

In between his speeches, Romo Budi performed the song “Tombo Ati” with the Saxophone. The guests who attended this Christmas also gave appreciation to him.

Father Budi pointed out the importance of maintaining peace among fellow human beings by respecting each other’s beliefs.

He said that by creating a sense of peace, each person will positively affect have a positive effect on the society around us.

UPRIS Rector Dr. Sri Suciati when giving a speech at this Christmas event stated that, as the university’s vision, UPGRIS has a religious nationalist identity.

Despite their different religions, they can coexist peacefully, sharing and complementing each other.

“Instead, we collaborate together to make achievements,” he explained.

Chairman of the UPGRIS 2022 Christmas committee, Wijonarko, said that this Christmas was held after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

”In 2022, we also got a beautiful gift from the campus with the provision of a prayer room for students, lecturers, and employees to worship,” he said.

Attending the Christmas event was the Chairman of YPPLP PT UPGRIS Dr. Bunyamin, the Vice Rectors of UPGRIS, and the officials of UPGRIS. The Christmas celebration service was led by Pastor Yedija Adi Cahya, GKJ Kertanegara.
